Microsoft word 2013 margins not working free.Margin problems in office word 2013

I made a template for documents that I need a certain way a lot. These are the relevant settings I have in the document:. I have used this template many times, but every once in a while it has this problem I can't figure out: the right side margin setting is being ignored. I have attached a screen shot of one page. I added a box that shows where the margins should be. The graphics stay put, but the text runs over. The margins are set correctly as shown on the little movable tabs on the ruler and under the margins pull-down menu.

However, if I try to reset the margins through the pull down menuy to anything else OR keep the margins the same I get this error message:. Settings you chose for the left and right margins, column spacing, or paragraph indents are too large for the page width in some sections. I can change the margins using the ruler tabs and they change in the document.

To get the right margin to display correctly at 7. But it still says 0. I just want to set the margins and then forget them and not mess around with all of this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. If the document is formatted using a table, then perhaps the table extends outside the margins.

Thanks for your response. This is not a table. This is regular text. I am not sure what you mean by a "negative right indent". The thing that is odd is that it does not happen all the time when I use the document template I made.

Most of the documents are fine. In later versions of Word, indents are identified as Before text and After text. In the following screen shot, the selected paragraph has an negative After text indent.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had not thought of that. But even when I set it to "0", the text is still running past the set margins. Now at least it is where it should be.

Even changing the right indent does not change the generated Table of Contents. That still goes way over the margins. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
